Skywood Recovery Center is a residential treatment facility offering integrated treatment for addiction and mental health conditions. Qualifications:
Position Summary
Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on Skywood Recovery buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Cleans and inspects heating and air conditioning units.
  • Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures.
  • Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal and lawn maintenance as required.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as required or assigned.

  • Ability to pay continual attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with all internal/external interface points.
  • Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (can substitute education for one year of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to be physically mobile, climb stairs, traverse the campus on uneven, hilly terrain.
  • Ability to work outdoors in possible extreme weather conditions.
  • A current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is required for use of company vehicles.
  • Due to the 24/7 operational demands, must be available after normal working hours and on holidays to manage emergencies that may arise.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud
